Thread cutter for parting off threaded rod from others of different pitches

The thread cutter has two half circular female dies (6,7) with one die held in a fixed mounting and the other die held in a hinged mounting to clamp the rod between them and cut the thread by rotating the rod. Each die is aligned in the mounting recess using a selected thickness packing element (20) to compensate for the different die thickness.The die thickness is an integer number of thread pitches, or an integer number of thread pitches plus half a thread pitch. This provides a standard number of cutting edges for the different pitch dies. The dies are secured by threaded fasteners and are easily replaced.
