The h.v. cable 1 is fixed into the housing of the plug 2 and is sealed. The plug enters a second body that is provided of a hard insulating material 3, such as PT or PBT, and is fixed to the cover 4 of the high voltage generator using a threaded lock nut 5. Before the plug is inserted into the body the plug is dipped into transformer oil and coats the outer silicon elastomer layer of the plug. This simplifies insertion into the body, and improves insulation.
