Centrifugal sterilising of milk with minimised waste

The milk is supplied to a centrifuge drum (1); material containing germs is concentrated and collects at the outside. Germ-reduced material is taken from a central region, and re-introduced to the supply of the drum. The concentrated pathogenic material is intermittently extracted through peripheral drum openings (14). The density of the germ-reduced material is measured by a cell (26), and evaluated by a density instrument (27). On exceeding a predetermined limit, a control appts. (28) is prompted to release germ rich material via the openings. In addition to the method, appts. to carry it out, is also claimed.
