The bed comprises fluid-filled hollow body support elements (4c,6) between the mattress support (2) and the mattress (3). Walls of the support elements offer little expansion and their longitudinal extension (HL) is less than the length (LSL) of the bed. These hollow body elements rest detachably on the mattress support (2) at least underneath the back and seat of the reclining user. They are placed next to each other in the longitudinal and/or transverse directions of the bed but have no contact with each other along their lengths. Further support elements in the form of elastic plates (7) are placed on any area of the mattress support surface not covered by the hollow bodies. An air-permeable cover (12) can be fixed on the mattress support (2) and has a touch and close fastener for connecting with underneath of hollow body supports.
