Transmitted data symbol detection system for mobile radio communications

The data symbol detection system supplies the received signal (z) to an equaliser (1), providing path information (SP)(s)) for each signal condition and a fault signal (E(s)) representing the difference between the received signal and its expected value (y). A channel estimation is obtained from the tap coefficients of the path information and the fault signal, for calculating the expected values. The channel estimation is effected separately for each condition, with the adaption parameters for each channel estimation preselected in dependence on the application area.
