Laser otoscope for perforating ear drum membrane

The laser otoscope uses laser radiation in the wavelength range between 1.4 and 11 microns, fed along a handgrip (1,1.1) for deflection through 90 degrees by a wavelength selective beam splitter (3,3.2), simultaneously supplied with visible light for visual examination of the operation field. Pref. the handgrip contains a light source (2) for illuminating the operating field and is double walled to allow suction to be applied for removing the smoke resulting from the application of the laser. The end piece (2.2) fitted into the ear is pref. interchangeable to match different ear sizes.
