The engine (7) is mounted on the support (2) side of the drawbar and consists of a centrifugal clutch and spur gearing whose drive pinion (8) with driving axis parallel to the roller axis is connected via chain transmission (9) to a sprocket (10) fixed to the roller endface (1). The engine can be operated by Bowden cables of the drawbar (3) which is T-shaped and which has a handle (12) fitted to one leg of the bar. The functional elements of the handle, notably a choke lever (13), a twist grip throttle control (14) and brake (15), are positively connected to the Bowden cables (16). The ground-wheel (4) below the drawbar leg (2c) carrying the support (2) slews freely round a vertical axis (5) set in front of the wheel axis (4a). The engine is pref. a type developed as an auxiliary bicycle engine and is a commercially available IC engine.
