Vacuum generator using electrically-operated vacuum pump

The vacuum pump (2) is operated with an auxiliary fluid and coupled to the evacuated space at the suction side via a pipeline (8) containing a non-return valve (15,15a). An automatic venting device (16,..21) is provided between the pump suction connection (7) and the non-return valve. Pref. the pipeline has a venting bore (16) in its wall and an associated control valve (17), operated when the pump is cut-out, to prevent penetration of the operating fluid into the pipeline.
