The invention concerns a feed device (2, 9, 10, 11, 13 to 21) for a sedimentation arrangement (1) in which solids are separated from the liquid in a solids-liquid mixture which is introduced. The solids settle below a solids level (12) and can be drawn off at the bottom of the sedimentation arrangement (1), whilst the liquid is drawn off at the surface. The feed device is suitable in particular for a secondary settler (1) into which an activated sludge-water mixture is introduced and from which sludge and purified water are drawn off separately. The feed device is characterized in that the solids-liquid mixture is fed to a distributor device (11) which is disposed below the liquid surface and above the solids level (12) and which has a small inflow surface and a large outflow surface.
