PURPOSE: To provide the black-and-white silver halide photographic sensitive material high in sensitivity and contrast, even in the case of processing in an automatic developing machine in the total processing time of <=35sec, superior in dryability, and free from deterioration of roller mark resistance and to provide the image-forming method using it. CONSTITUTION: The black-and-white photosensitive material having at least one silver halide emulsion layer on a support contains a spectral sensitizing dye stuff in the silver halide emulsion in an amount of d gram per 1m<3> of the emulsion volume and 0.1-1.0mmol per 1mol of silver halide and the dye density C=d/H is represented by the following expression: 1.0×10<-> <-7> <C<1.0×10<-6> . This photosensitive material is processed in the automatic developing machine in the total processing time of <=35sec.
