The invention relates to a method for heat treatment of paint contained in a paint can. A paint can heat treatment assembly is provided comprising a fluid receiving container having a paint can supporting arrangement for receiving a paint can in said fluid receiving container. The method comprises the steps of filling the fluid receiving container with a fluid having a temperature for adjusting the rheological behaviour of the paint, and inserting the paint can in the paint can supporting arrangement in the fluid receiving container, such that the fluid is in thermal contact with an outer surface of the paint can for exchanging heat between the fluid and the paint. A paint can heat temperature treatment assembly and a paint can supporting arrangement for use with the method are disclosed.
