The method involves squeezing the mop (4) of a wiping implement such that a wiper (13) reduces its water content and pours it into a bucket, when the mop is stretched flat on its retainer (3). The retainer is at least as large as the mop for its holding flat. Pref. the mop facing side of the wiping implement is in the form of a multipart, flat, plate on which is guided the compressible wiper slidable over the mop surface, parallel to the retainer plane. The retainer may be a plank with depressions (10,12) for the mop.
