In high-speed machines for grinding the blades of rotors for jet engines and the like, the means supporting the rotor or component (4) are a bridge-type pillar (5-6-7) formed by a frame (5) and individual headstock (6) and tailstock (7) centres which have corresponding elastic articulations (8 and 9) to provide elastic mobility for absorbing vibrations generated up to perfect balancing with which are associated selective blocking means actuated in combination with the control for balancing bringing about a "non-block" state allowing elastic mobility of the centres during balancing manoeuvres and a "blocking or holding" state during the grinding task. Similarly, between the displaceable table (10) and the bed (11), there are sliding supports (12) with selective blocking means for determining a "block or holding" state while the balancing manoeuvre is being carried out and a "non-block" state when the grinding task is being carried out. <IMAGE>
