PURPOSE: To obtain an optical circulator of a structure in which the optical path difference of forward transmitted light does not exist and which is capable of decreasing the leaking light of forward exist light as compared with the optical circulator of the conventional type. CONSTITUTION: This optical circulator is composed of an optical element part consisting of first double refractive crystal flat plates 1, 2, second double refractive crystal flat plates 3, 4 and first and second 45 deg. Faraday rotators 5, 6, an incident and exit end 13 arranged on one end side of the optical element part and an exit end 15 and incident end 14 arranged on the other end side. The ratio of the separating distances of the first double refractive crystal flat plates 1, 2 and the second double refractive crystal flat plates 3, 4 is 1:√2-1 and the directions of rotation by the first and second 45 deg. Faraday rotators 5, 6 are reverse from each other.
