The transducer sensitivity control device uses a source (11) supplying the electrostrictive transducer element (15) with a bias signal with a level which is determined by a regulation device (18), for controlling the output acoustic energy delivered to the patient's body. Pref. a storage medium (19) is recorded with measured data relating to the actual sensitivity of the transducer element, accessed by the regulation device for determining the level of the bias signal and the operating characteristics of a transmission circuit (17) coupled to the transducer element. Pref. a feedback regulation is incorporated for compensating variations in the operating temp., the acoustic press. etc.
