The earthing arrangement contains an earth line with an open circuit function used to earth the screen, which encloses the screened conductor. A holder for an insert arranged in or on the overvoltage trip device has an overvoltage tapping (5) and two connection points electrically connected to it. When the insert is inserted, one connection point is connected to a counter connector leading to the screen (2) and to the trip device (7,8) and the other is connected to a further counter connector leading to earth (6). An earth line (4) open circuit point is arranged in the path of motion of the insert, or of a part which moves with it, so that when the insert is placed into the inserted position the earth line is opened.
