PURPOSE: To obtain an aq. coating material which can form a coating film having good weather resistance and soil resistance by comprising repeating units derived from a specific organopolysiloxane compd. and repeating units of a specific unsatd. monomer. CONSTITUTION: An aq. silicone-modified resin comprising: (A) repeating units derived from an organopolysiloxane compd. of formula (I) (wherein X represents a group of formula (II); Y represents 3-(meth)acryloxypropyl; R<1> represents a 1-6C alkyl and phenyl; (a) is 0 or 1; 1<=b<=20; 0<=c<=10; 1<=d<=10, provided that 1<=a+c<=10; R<2> represents a carboxyl-contg. monovalent group; and 5<=n<=40]; and (B) repeating units of anα,β-ethylenically unsatd. monomer. The resin can form a coating film having a combination of good weather resistance and good soil resistance, despite the fact that a silicone-modified resin is contained as a film-forming polymer.
