Hip joint prosthesis

The prosthesis comprises a housing (11) which is inserted into the top of the reamed femur and is pushed into position. The housing has steps (113) of the same cross-section on its inner surface. The steps consist of an inclined support face (114) and a guide face (115). The support face falls away from the outside to the inside in the direction of the tip of the housing. The guide faces form a slight wedge.The prosthesis shaft (9) is inserted into the housing following insertion and removal of a test shaft to determine the orientation of the implant. The prosthesis shaft has in the area corresponding to the deformable area of the housing section, steps (91) which match the steps on the inner surface of the housing section. The shaft is removable and can be exchanged for a larger one causing greater deformation of the housing section if required.
