Heating cable arrangement for use in areas exposed to explosion risk

For use in environments at risk of explosion, a heating cable arrangement comprises a heating cable (12) in an area (g) emitting heat when voltage is applied and a cold junction area (K) not emitting heat with connecting cable (18). The two areas are surrounded by an insulating sheath (14) or covering, surrounded by a metal sheath (40) with protective sheath. Heating cable and connecting cable are joined together by direct soldering, welding or adhesive bonding to form a conductive joint. Heating cable area has a smaller outside dia. (A1) than the outside dia. (A2) of the cold junction area. Metal sheath is continuous in the joint area. Pref. joint is made with Ag solder and insulating sheath or covering is formed by winding with PTFE tape followed by heat treatment or is of extruded PTFE.
