PURPOSE: To ensure anti-wear property and also increase the pore rate of the friction material and improve anti-fade property. CONSTITUTION: In a friction material including a fiber base material, a resin bonding agent and a filling agent, a thinned and grained graphite with 100-1000μm of average particle diameter and 0.10-0.20g/cc of bulk density is combined as the filling agent which is the thinned and grained graphite thinning a scaled natural graphite to a piece and graining. As the thinned and graind graphite which is a solid libricant has a certain comparatively big particle diameter and a small bulk density, the pore rate of a friction material can be increased adequately upto the extent by which the strength is not dropped. Therefore, anti-wear property of the friction material can be ensured and also anti-fade property can be improved.
