PURPOSE: To obtain excellent heat resistance and optical characteristics and to enable mass production by laminating a specified first layer and a second layer comprising a transparent material having lower glass transition temp. than the first layer. CONSTITUTION: The first layer is an optically transparent film of polycarbonate or polyarylate containing 4,4'-(α-methyl benzylidene) bis phenol and/or 9,9-bis(4- hydroxyphenyl) fluorene as a bisphenol component is directly laminated by heating on a second layer comprising a transparent film having lower glass transition temp. than the first layer. The first layer is laminated on one or both surfaces of the second layer having lower glass transition temp. than the first layer so as to prevent thermal deformation of the second layer when the layer is heated at high temp. When the laminated sheet is simply used as a substrate for a liquid crystal display device, it is required that the sheet has low retardation, and generally, thickness of the sheet is preferably <=50nm.
