METHOD OF MACHINING RAIL WHEELS

FIELD: mechanical engineering; plastic metal working and thermal treatment; hot and cold metal working at manufacture of seamless rolled rail wheels. SUBSTANCE: method includes hot sizing rim members, mechanical and thermal treatment. Novelty is that, after sizing the rim in width with provision of parallelism of both side surfaces relative to each other and perpendicularity of surfaces to wheel axis, mechanical machining the rim is carried out to obtain intermediate shape with side surface of rim at inner side arranged at an angle to side surface of rim at outer side; final forming of rim to provided parallelism of its side surfaces and perpendicularity of surfaces to wheel axis is performed under action of thermal stresses at hardening. EFFECT: production of seamless rolled wheels with parallel side surfaces of rim perpendicular to wheel axes.
