A hammer drill or percussion hammer has a detachable vibration-damped handle arrangement. The handle arrangement comprises a U-shaped handle element 21 connected to a mounting element 24 via vibration damping members 30,31 located in the region of legs 22,23. The damping members may be a combination of a pivot 31 and a spring element 32 or may comprise an elastomeric material. The mounting element is attachable to the casing of a tool by means of fastening screws 27. The handle arrangement may be retro-fitted to tools having no vibration damping.
