Automobile engine carburettor with air/fuel ratio control

The carburettor has a mixing channel containing a throttle plate (56), pivoted between an engine idling position and a fully open position and a fuel dosing chamber, coupled to a fuel dosing jet. The air/fuel ratio is automatically set to a given value by controlling the flow to the fuel dosing jet, in accordance with the output signal from a control circuit, responding to the detected engine revs, with period adjustment of the air/fuel ratio to a different value in dependence on the output signal from a second control circuit receiving the rev signal. A mechanical choke/throttle locking mechanism prevents operation of the choke in dependence on the engine revs, to prevent damage to the catalyser in the engine exhaust system.
