PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition allowing the absorption of interferon through mucous cells (membranes) to enhance the bioavailability of the interferon and improving its therapeutic effects by adding a specific absorption- reinforcing agent to the interferon. SOLUTION: This composition contains (A) interferon (preferably interferonα-2a), (B) an absorption-reinforcing system comprising (i) 1-10 wt.% of a compound of formula I [(n) is 12 on the average) and (ii) 1-20 wt.% of a caprylic and/or capric acid salt, and (C) 0-90 wt.% of a compound of formula II [(n) is 6,8]. The composition preferably contains 5×10<7> IV/ml of the component A, 6-12 wt.% of the component (1), 5-10 wt.% of the component (ii), and 50 wt.% of the component C. The composition is preferably orally or rectally administered. The component (i) is preferably obtained by etherifying lauryl alkanol with poloxyethylene glycol.
