The electrical contact system for a moving drum assembly, especially in an electro-plating appts., has counter-contacts (38,40,42) on slopes (56), which are not electrically conductive for a part (48) of their length. On lowering the drum assembly (10) into the processing bath, the pliable contacts (28,30,32) on the machine side are initially brought against the counter contacts (38,40,42) at the non-conductive section (48) of the slopes (56) and then, on further lowering of the drum assembly (10), they slide to the electrically conductive section (50) of the counter contacts (38,40,42). The insulated section (48) is of plastics or ceramics.
