A cable drum has a revolving drum body (32) mounted on a supporting structure (10) and a device for automatically winding a multicore network cable (40) on the drum body (32). The supporting structure (10) has a bearing journal (14) that extends through the core (30) of the drum. A spiral winding spring (82) is clamped between the supporting structure (10) and the drum body (32). A metallic spiral strip (52) is arranged inside the core (30) of the drum for galvanically leading through a protective lead. A stiff contact tab parallel and form-fittingly joined to the bearing journal (14) is arranged at the inner end of the clamping spiral (52). A flexible welding tab (62) capable of bending over approximately 180 DEG around a rib (78) located inside the drum core and fixed to the drum body is arranged at the outer end of the clamping spiral (52). The drum body (32) is made of two axially interlocking halves (22, 24). Each drum half (22, 24) carries one of the drum flanges (26, 28) and one part of the core (30) of the drum.
