Motor vehicle alternator with captive protective coverings for terminals

A plastic cap (18) is provided over components fitted to the generator mounting (10) with two recesses (24,26) for terminals (20,22) whereby the generator is connected to the load circuit. The cap carries a connector (28) with two pins (30,32) connected to contacts (34,36) in the respective recesses. Each recess is provided with a removable cover (50,52) formed in one piece on the cap. Each cover is in the form of a tube (62) with a hole (66) in one end for the escape of air trapped under the cover when it is fitted.
