Electrical connector with element to detect connection state

The electrical connector has a number of parallel connections (4) and has two main parts, one of which acts as a socket (3) and the other as a plug (1). The socket has a transverse slot (5) and above this is a second slot (7) having a tapered end section. The slots are shaped to receive an element (2) that indicates the status of the connection. Normally this is retained in the plug and when the plug is moved into engagement in the socket is pushed outwards b the action of the taper (12) riding against the edge 916) of the socket. The element is then pushed into a slot in the socket to indicate a full and interlocked connection.
