An element for coupling a combustion device, which is provided with an air inlet and a flue-gas outlet, to an air supply duct and a flue-gas discharge duct comprises a bypass duct with two open ends. The first end is connected to the air supply duct. The second end is connected to a flue-gas discharge duct. A non-return valve is accommodated in the bypass duct. An open end of an air inlet duct opens out into the bypass duct between the first end and the non-return valve. Another open end of this air inlet duct is connected to the air inlet of the combustion device. An open end of a flue-gas outlet duct opens out into the bypass duct between the second end and the non-return valve, and another open end of this flue-gas discharge duct is connected to the flue-gas outlet of the combustion device. The coupling element may form part of the combustion device.
