Shoe with reinforcing plate having hole under central area of the heel

In a shoe with a heel, a reinforcing plate (1) prevents bending of a section of the sole between the section supporting the ball of the foot and toes and a section supporting the heel and extends almost up to the rear of the heel section, having an hole (4) under the central part of the heel. Pref. the plate is made of polystyrene and has a plate-like section (3a), and strips (3b, 3c, 3d) with which the hole is formed. The underside of the plate has a number of longitudinal ribs and the upper side contains longitudinal and transverse ribs (8, 9, 11). The plate is elastically flexible.
