The electric motor has a rotor (4) which runs without electric current supply, and a stator (3). The latter engages the rotor (4) leaving a rotor gap, with a plate packet (13). The latter is formed with pole shoes. The pole shoes, at least in one region, have a distance between them. The stator plate packet (13) and the current conducting coils on it are enclosed in a housing of insulating material. The stator (3) is formed in two parts, with a first housing part (11) and a second housing part (12). The first part (11) encloses the plate packet (13) and the current supply coils. The second part (12) locates both ends of the rotor (4). The first housing part (11) forms an access opening in the spacing region between the pole shoes, for the second housing part (12).
