The pipe coupling comprises a plug part (3) and a socket (4) which have sealing surfaces with corresponding conicity. A ring seal for sealing the split between sealing surfaces is inserted in an annular groove in the plug part. There are narrow annular bars formed in the sealing surfaces on which, in the closed state of the pipe coupling, the opposite conical sealing surfaces rest. The annular bars are formed in the axial end-sections of the conical sealing surface.
