The play-free needle roller bering for a shaft (4)incorporates a thin-walled needle sleeve (1) with at least one elastically compliant circumferential section (3) differing from a circular form. at least one of the needles (6) between the section (3) and the running track (7) is radially preloaded. The sleeve is housed in a cylindrical bore (9) and is provided with edges turned inwards. The edges are continuously joined to the sleeve, and have the same width is spite of the non-circular form of the sleeve. Also claimed are three methods for mfr. of such a needle roller bearing.
