PURPOSE: To obtain the subject catalyst consisting of a transition metal compound, an organoaluminum compound and a composition of fine particles, not using an expensive methyl alminoxane, and capable of obtaining a polyolefin having a good particle properties in a high yield. CONSTITUTION: This olefin polymerization catalyst consists of (A) a transition metal compound in the groups 4 to 6 in the periodic table having at least one conjugated 5 membered ring ligand, (B) an organoaluminum compound and (C) (i) a composition of fine particles containing 0.1-99.9wt.% boric acid. Further, it is preferable that the component A is expressed by formula I to formula IV (A, A' are each a conjugated 5 membered ring ligand; Q is a binding group cross-linking the ligands; Z is a ligand containing N, O, etc., binding to Me; Q' is a binding group cross-linking between the ligand and Z; Me is a metallic element in the groups 4 to 6; X, Y are each H, a halogen, etc., binding to Me), the component B is R3 Al (R3 is H, a halogen, a siloxy, etc.) and the component C consists of the fine particle raw material of the component (i) of B(O)n (OH)m-n , (under the condition of n=0, m=3, etc.) and (ii) anα-olefin polymer, etc.
