PURPOSE: To provide a presser device for a sewing machine capable of easily and stably changing the tension applied to a belt-like rubbery material, sewing the belt-like rubbery material at the accurate position of a sewn object, improving quality, keeping a frontage large, and excellent in the workability for fitting the belt-like rubbery material. CONSTITUTION: This presser device for a sewing machine is provided with a tension applying mechanism 3 having a presser metal 2 and a pressing member 6 arranged on the presser metal 2 and capable of being adjusted and moved back and forth and a guide member 4 fitted at the tip section of the presser metal 2. A prescribed gapΔis formed between the pressing member 6 of the tension applying mechanism 3 and the guide member 4, a belt-like rubbery material fed toward the needle location section N of the presser metal 2 is sent through the prescribed gapΔ, and the prescribed tension is applied.
