CONNECTOR APPARATUS

Connector apparatus, suitable for use as a telephone socket, includes a connector module of leadframe construction. A basic leadframe (20) has parts forming IDC contacts (12) and sockets (18) such as for mastering components. The leadframe (20) is partially overmoulded with a plastics material to provide a module structure (22, 24). Supporting framework (28) of the leadframe (20) is then broken away and the construction completed by appropriate bending of leadframe conductors and attaching a moulded plastics cover. The IDC contacts (12) preferably have a closed oval wire insertion aperture, with a narrower substantially parallel insulation displacement slot extending from the aperture.
