Plant for mfr. of hot steel strip from continuous cast slab

Continuous cast steel slab (2) is rolled to hot strip in a plant including cross-cut shears (3) and continuous furnace (4) upstream of a hot rolling line (8). The furnace is divided into a first stationary section (4) and a second section formed by two movable furnace sections (5 ,6) which can be moved transversely between the prodn. line (X) and a holding position (5a, 6a) to the side of the prodn. line. The stationary section is pref. shorter than the mobile sections and corresp. at least to the distance that the tip of the sheared slab travels from the shears to the empty mobile furnace section at casting speed.
