The connecting lever (4) is located between the camshaft (1) and a pushrod (7) operating a rocking lever (9) for the exhaust valve (10). The pushrod is pivoted on the connecting lever's end facing away from the shaft (5). The connecting lever is adjustable through eccentricity in such a way that in the running regime it is adjusted with contact for the camshaft outside the camshaft's rotational axis. The braking regime has contact in the plane of the rotational axis of the camshaft.
