The present disclosure is related to the development of a synthesis protocol allowing to obtain a new organic compound derived from functionalized curcumin by both phenols with polyester type dendrons (Compound label: Cur- [G-2] -OH), Resulting in a highly water-soluble compound (Up to 10 mg / ml) at room temperature. The Cur- [G-2] ûOH compound exhibits antioxidant properties of curcumin, according to FRAP trials and in the synaptosomal P2 fraction of a rat brain. All the obtained compounds were characterized by common spectroscopic techniques such as 1 H and 13 C NMR, Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), UV-Vis and mass spectrometry. Additionally, non-conventional characterization techniques were included such as calorimetry and fluorescence. The new compound showed great potential in in vitro tests as an antitumor and neuroprotective agent, showing comparable and even better results, than when using the curcumin alone. |
