PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a length with high accuracy by providing a belt shaped body for blocking a table slit connected to a piston through the slit of a head cylinder in which a measuring signal is generated, and which is moved along a straight scale following to a rodless piston. SOLUTION: Brackets 11, 12 are installed on both ends of a cylinder 4, both ends of a cross sectional circular scale 2 are inserted in the holes of the brackets 11, 12 so as to pass the scale 2 between a piston 3 and the axial core L of the cylinder chamber 4B of the cylinder 4, and they are prevented from slipped off by a vis 5. A cylindrical head 1 is installed in an intermediate member 3A of the piston 3 so as to arrange around the scale 2, and a box type table 10 is connected to the intermediate member 3A through a connecting member 21 which is moved in a slit of the bus line direction of the cylinder 4. Both end parts of an inner belt 6 are fixed to the brackets 11, 12, the slit is blocked from the cylinder chamber 4 side, and airtightness in the cylinder chamber 4 is held. It is thus possible to measure a length with high accuracy, and reduce an area of an occupied space.
