PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-quality image by disposing an electrically conductive region connected to an electron emission element electrode potential in the insulating region other than the electron emission part region of an electron source substrate to prevent the storage of a floating electric charge. SOLUTION: A lower wiring electrode 6 and an upper wiring electrode 9 are formed by paste-baking or the like on an electron source substrate 1 in a lattice-like form so as to hold an insulating band therebetween and perpendicularly cross each other. A pair of element electrodes 2a, 2b are formed of an Ni thin-film or the like at the intervals of 20μm at respective crossing part of a lattice. Thereon, a very fine particle conductive thin film 3a formed by t$ baking or the like of the organic metal solution of Pd and having thickness of about 200Åis disposed. An electron emission part 4 is formed by carrying a current to the electrically conductive thin film 3a from the upper and the lower wiring electrodes 6, 9 through the element electrodes 2a, 2b. Electrons are emitted from the electron emission part 4 to the fluorescent bodies on the face plate opposite to the electron source substrate 1 to form an image. Electrically conductive thin films 3b, 3c are disposed in the insulating region of the electron source substrate 1 and connected to the upper and the lower wiring electrodes 6, 9.
