An alternating source and the load resistance in series are coupled to the drain terminals (D1,D2) of the two transistors (T1,T2), with the drain-source spacings connected in series and the voltage of the solar cell applied between gate and source. The gate-source capacities are charged from the solar cell and discharged through the resistance (R). When D.C. is used, one of the transistors is given negative polarity and, if this reaches 0.6 V, the diode (LD) connects substrate and drain, so that the current must remain low enough to block this action. The load and the voltage source are connected between the source (S) and the drain (D1,D2).
