PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cruising distance calculating device capable of calculating the practical and more accurate cruising distance based on the residual fuel. SOLUTION: A road classification judging means 103 judges the classification of the road on which a vehicle is to be traveled, based on the map information from a map information calculating device and the position information from a position detecting means 102. A congestion information acquiring means 104 acquires the congestion information of the road. A fuel consumption memory means 105 stores the fuel consumption in response to the road classification and congestion state. A reference fuel consumption calculating means 106 reads out the fuel consumption corresponding to the road classification and congestion state from the fuel consumption memory means 105 according to the judged road classification and congestion information and calculates the reference fuel consumption. A cruising distance calculating means 108 calculates the travelable cruising distance from the calculated reference fuel consumption and the residual fuel detected by a residual fuel detecting means 107 and displays it on a display means 109.
