The guide mechanism for a fibre web, especially at the drawing stage for a following calender, has an exchangeable funnel insert (30) with guide sections (32, 33) at its leading end on both sides of the leading sliver channel opening (31a). The central plane (34) is generally at right angles to the plane (90) linking the axes (101a, 101b) of the calender discs (100a, 100b). Also claimed is an operation.
