A profiled multi-chamber hollow wall bearer (2) is provided above the sill (1) and extends approximately in the longitudinal direction (FR) of the vehicle, interconnects two struts (3,4), and extends out over them. The wall bearer on at least one of its end sections has a mounting element (9,10) for a spring and/or shock absorber unit (11) for the vehicle wheel suspension. In the region between the struts the wall bearer is divided to form a door element (15).
