The applicator sleeve for a suture anchor comprises a tube (2) with a cannula channel (3). It has a handpiece (4) at one end and a sharp point (5) at the other end. A mandril (6) can be inserted into the cannula channel and at one end has a handpiece (7) which connects to the handpiece of the tube. When the instrument is fully assembled, the mandril projects beyond the end (8) of the tube where the sharp point is.
