The package is shaped to follow the form of the body (2,3) and base (4) of the reel (1) which is retained by two stop zones (16,17) to immobilise the reel. There is an aperture (18) across which the crank handle of the reel extends. The package is shaped to define an internal cavity (20) to allow the rotation of the reel body and movement of the crank handle. The rigid shell (10,11) can be adapted to lock the base of the reel.
