Packaging method for paper rolls

The method involves covering the roll (2) with a continuous flexible envelope (1) forming a sheath with open ends (3) opening laterally w.r.t. the side faces of the roller. The roll is held at a closing station (20) and the free end of the cover is preloaded adjacent one end of the roll between two spaced zones (6,7). The part of the cover between the zones is twisted and a cord is placed around it, to cut it at the edge of the roll. The ends of the roll are then closed.
