A frame (2) and a split table top make up the table, with the frame comprising a longitudinal section (9). It has brackets (10,11) on which a first panel (22) of the table top is fastened. The other panel (16) passes under and engages the first panel with at least one projection (21) and is supported on the other side on a tongue (15) of the frame. The longitudinal section is preferably in the form of an eccentric shaft, the end (26,27) of which are supported in holes (7,8) of crossbeams (5,6) of the frame, having a device to prevent it twisting. The upper side of the frame may be provided with at least one felt strip as damping material.
